O.U. gays to hold workshop

ATHENS, OHIO The Ohio University Gay People's Alliance will hold a three day organizational workshop November 7, 8, and 9. Explored will be how gay, and lesbian organizations (especlally student organizations) can organize to meet the challenges of the eighties.

The workshop will feature a number of nationally known

presenters including Lucia. Valeska, Co-Executive Director of the National Gay Task Force, Sandra Hagerty, a former nationally syndicated columnist, Gini Coover, an author and well known organizer, Dr. Rev. Bill Johnson, an openly gay ordained United Church of Christ minister, John Corlett, an Ohio University Senior and

Director of the Athens Consumer Protection Agency, John Quigley, a member of the Ohio State University College of Law faculty, Brian Knedler, an Ohio State University student, and Don Laufersweiler, a counselor specializing in the problems of rural and Appalachian gays.

Topics will focus on grass roots organizing, and will include

group goal setting, dealing with the news media, working with other groups, publicity, the present legal situation of gays and lesbians, and re-starting "burned-out". gay rights organizations. There will also be a dinner, and large party.

Stallions' Stampede Oct. 24-26

CLEVELAND The all new Stallions 8th Annual Autumn Stampede (Oct. 24-26) is just a few weeks away and already looks like the men's biggest run ever with over 200 people from neighboring clubs and independents expected to attend.

The three day affair is open to all men and friends of the Stallions (a private club). A record number of bars and other gay businesses are participating in the club's biggest event of the year.

For those of you not familiar. about what a "run" is, The Stallions "run" (like other leather/levi type clubs) is the club's largest annual event where other clubs and independents (non-club members) are welcome to attend. The three days offer

plenty of good food, booze, after hours parties, contests, a full banquet and show, entertainment, lots of laughs and excitement by enjoying the fellowship of the 200 or so attending.

The Stallions this year have secured new places for all of its events over the weekend. Among

those participating are: The Crown Cafe, Vaults, New Dimensions, Sumner Trucking Co.. Exedra, Traxx, Leather Stallion Saloon, The 2402 Club and many more. A new banquet hall has been secured for the Saturday night banquet and show. Even a special Saturday afternoon event

is planned in Cleveland's historic Murray Hill section.

The run begins at the Leather Stallion Saloon on Friday. October 24 at 8:30 p.m. with registration and dinner for run attendees. This year's run fee is a low $39 -$45 if one's application is received after October 3.

The Coach opens in Akron

AKRON Former owner of The Stagecoach Inn, Hartzel Harris, has re-opened Akron's Magic Inn located at 250 West Market as The Coach

On September 10th, Mr. Harris opened The Coach to the gay community not only as a bar, but

as a restaurant too. One feature in particular that no other gay facility in the area has to offer is. that the bar will open seven days a week from 11 am until 2:30 a.m. week days and Saturdays. On Sundays, The Coach will open at 1 p.m., serving not only liquor, but a Sunday brunch. The

brunch is by reservation only and will cost only $2.99.

The Coach will soon be geared for disco. Architects are currently drawing plans to completely remodel the rear portion of The Coach and attach it to an office building in the rear. When the job is done, The Coach will
